Hey Folks, there's some major events happening this week. I’ll start off with this one; The Soul Play 2023 at Mandala is happening this week from June 8 to the 11th, from noon to 5:00 each day. "Dance Connection Nature"! For just $549, you’ll get Live Music & DJs, plus classes in Dance & Movement, Wisdom Sharing, Intimacy & Communication, Innerworld Workshops and Massage & Movement. The Kelsey Creek Brewing in K’ville is proud to start the new official first day of the week, Tuesday, with some excellent handcrafted beers, ales and seltzers, all with funny names, plus the acoustic live music from Buskin’ for Brewskis from 3 to 6:00. Too much fun, Folks!… Then on Saturday from 3 to 6:00 it’ll be the first in a series of Saturdays with Cowboy and Rovetti, (no, not a pasta dish…). The Blues Invitational Jam at the Hopland Tap ‘n’ Grill is happening again this Wednesday from 7 to 10:00. Such a fun jam featuring an all-star house band that occasionally brings up a name-brand Bay Area Blues artist to really blow the roof off. It's all good, Folks!…

On Thursday evening at the Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville, the LC Diamonds will play from 6 to 9:00. Then on Sunday, as you munch a bunch of brunch, Andy Rossoff and Friends will be playing New Orleans flavor from 11:30 to 1:30. Go see what Westin's newest take on Eggs Bennies is…

The Middletown Farmers Market is held at the Senior Center/Library Grounds and happens on Fridays. Stock up on the freshest locally grown fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, and live music – sadly, I can't find a listing for musicians…

The Catfish Coffee House in Clearlake and Chris Grant will host on Thursday another Open Mic starting around 6:30. Any and all musicians are welcome. Come see what kind of talent Clearlake has to offer…

Come take a step up to the mountain at Loch Lomand Resort and Pool, (behind the Roadhouse), where 3 on the Tree, (Danny Prather, Randy Hood and me, Mike Guarniero) will be playing acoustic guitars from 4 to 10:00. Gonna be a fun time. Lotta stars to see in the sky at night…

In Clearlake at the Hot Cow B.A.G. on Friday evening, Dave Broida and Blues Farm will keep your toes tappin’ and your restless legs movin’ from 7 to 10:00. Richmond Park in the bayside Riviera will feature the rockin’ good music of the Mark Weston Band on Friday night from 8 to midnight. On Saturday afternoon, my band, Dr Groove will be giving you your USRDA of R&B, Blues, Funk and Rock from 2 to 6:00, followed by J Bird, starting at 7:30. Then on Sunday, everybody's fave Tommy Rox is back to remind you that you don't need to go to the Caribbean to have a good time, from 1 to 5:00. Lots of slips available for the boaters – food and a full bar, come and go, then come back… It's rockin’ at the Park this weekend!…

Twin Pine Casino in Middletown will bring on the Country Music sensations, the Ariel Jean Band both Friday and Saturday nights from 9 to 1:00. The only thing hotter than these three beauties might be the slots. Come find out… On Sunday morning, Jayson Angrove will be playing solo from 10: AM to 2:00.

Get ready on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 3:00 as the 2nd Annual Cruisin’ into Summer Car Show pulls up at Haverty Park, next to the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Bldg. Along with some great cars and trucks, there should be live music. My band played there last year, and it was just too much fun. Call the LCCC for info on live music…

The Farmer's Finest Farmers Market at the Shannon Ridge Mercantile in Finley on Saturday morning will bring to you the freshest in locally grown fruit and vegetables, as well as many handcrafted items and foodstuff you just can't live without from 10:AM to 1:00. Plus, as a bonus you get the music of Dennis Purcell. And since the tasting room opens at 11:00, why not make it a one-stop-shop event? On next Tuesday, the FFFM moves over to the gazebo at Library Park in Lakeport and will feature much of the same, plus the music of the lovely Hilarie Wilt from 10:AM to 1:00.

Pope Valley Winery east of Middletown will host another Wine and Music Sunday event on Saturday from noon to 4:00 and featuring the music of Vincent Costanza.

In Lakeport at Library Park, there will be another Lake County Winefest on Saturday from noon to 5:00. Local wineries will do the pouring while local rockers, Hip Replacements lay down the tunes. This event will help support the Lake County Symphony Association…

Clearlake Concerts are happy to bring back another "Battle of the Bands" show on Saturday from 2 to 4:00 at the stage in Austin Park, with a wonderful view of the lake and Mt Konocti as a backdrop. The 1st Annual Lake County Rockfest will come roaring into the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport and feature two very popular tribute bands, one called Foreigner Revisited, the other is CHeap Trick, each showing tribute to bands I liked back in the day. The Clearlake Farmers Market will be on Saturday from 4:30 to 7:30, at Redbud Park, (over by the boat launch area), and it offers much of what you’ll find at the FFFM, including live music – although I can't seem to find a listing anywhere.

In Lakeport, O’Meara Bros Brewing on Saturday evening, the Hip Replacements will show you why they’re not just a clever name from 6 to 9:00. And you can't go wrong with the menu or one of the O’Bros fine handcrafted beers and ales. It could turn out to be the best date night ever…

Maynard's Sports Bar in Lower Lake will host, along with the hot band, Still Kick’n, another Open Mic/Jam starting at 8:00. Could be your time to shine, and everybody's welcome…

Robinson Rancheria Casino in Nice will host another Comedy night in the RBar, (this night it's the RRRBar… get it?). If laughter is what you’re after, this is the place… Please call to get a line-up…

On Sunday afternoon, the LC Diamonds will be playing at The Boathouse in that nice little town of Nice from 2 to 6:00. Check out the new menu with an international flair, (I love the adobo), grab some libations from a full bar and enjoy the sun and pleasant lake breezes.

The Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake always rounds out a great weekend of live music here in The LC. On Friday evening, the Majide Trio will enchant you with their songs from 6 to 8:00. On Saturday for supper you can hear the song and strum of Steve Smith from 6 to 8:00. Their Sunday Brunch will feature the fun music of Indie Groove from 11:30 to 2:00. Then Sunday Supper will bring you the music of Goh Kurosawa from 6 to 8:00. For your Monday Blues, the best cure will be brought to you by Dave Broida and Blues Farm from 6 to 8:00. Anderson Valley Brewing in Boonville will feature the interesting groove of Cross Currents on Friday starting at 5:30. On Saturday, come check out the Porcupine Petting Zoo starting at 3:00.

The Thirsty Axe in Ukiah will feature the music of Funkacillin on Friday starting at 8:00. Does that make it Funkacillin Friday?

For the first Sunday in the Park Concert of 2023 in Ukiah, come check out Royal Jelly Jive playing at 6:00.

Is this a lot of live music or what?! So much going on on Saturday, it’ll be impossible to get to ‘em all. Good thing I still have my used ACME Clone-a-Matic for sale – cheap, needs work, but this way you can attend all the shows you want. Lemme Know…

BTW, in case you’ve been holding your breath, the week after this one is when the Kelseyville Street Dance, the Lakeport Friday Concerts and some other great shows will begin. Be ready to have your minds blown, (okay, you can exhale now…). So if and when you get out this fine upcoming week to check out some tunes, have a fun time, but please stay safe…

Mike has been playing professionally, both acoustic and electric, for 40+ years. He paid his dues in a robust Sonoma County music scene during the '80s and '90s, then DJ'd for 10 years after moving to Lake County in 1996. After retiring from his job of 26 years, because he recognized a growing local music scene, he decided to devote his time to playing live music again. He's never looked back. Along with his regular band, Dr. Groove, he has filled in on lead guitar for local bands, (Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, C.A.M. Band, Borrowed Time, Time Travelers). He's played acoustic guitar at a some of our local wineries, restaurants, farmers Markets and art galleries. He's also a semi-regular supporting various local Open Mics around Lake County. He writes and records original songs and has recorded original demos for other performers as well. For the last three years, he has posted on Facebook a local music guide called the Lake County Music Guide.
