Urgent recall of products sold on Amazon platform due to safety concerns

Three items have been recalled and customers who have bought them have been urged to discontinue use immediately

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued three new recalls about popular products sold on Amazon and one other seller.

The CCPC, the statutory body responsible for promoting compliance with and enforcing competition and consumer protection law in Ireland, issued the warnings on May 26, urging anyone with the common household items to immediately stop using them.

Here is everything you need to know about the recall notices issued on Friday:

The risks presented by this product are Electric Shock and Fire as the product does not the meet requirements of the relevant safety standard.

The brand is Tyzygmy. The ASIN numbers are B098X5JQVR and B09PBFYDQT. The model number is TYZ-42020H. The barcode is unknown.

This product was sold on the Amazon Platform and there are approximately 561 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

If you purchased one of these products, it is advised you discontinue use immediately and discard the product. You may wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.

The risk presented by this product is injuries. The product's weight limit was not accurate and the product could not hold the weight advertised without collapsing. This could cause serious injury from falling from the fully extended height of the product.

The brand is Homidec. The ASIN numbers are B09P5891YP, B09P58PVVG, B09P59H3B9, B09P5BXD21 and B09P5CNFKH. The model and barcode are unknown.

This product was sold on the Amazon Platform and there are approximately 292 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

The risk presented by these products is injuries. The front fender bracket can break without warning which can cause a blockage of the front wheel. This bracket which attaches the front fender to the fork crown can break under pressure. This can lead to a fall of the cyclist resulting in bruises and fractures.

The affected models are listed above in the images from model years 2020–2022. The serial numbers of the affected bikes are known and the serial number can be checked via the recall app, which can be found here, to see if the bike is affected.

There are approximately 109 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

If you are in possession of any of these products, it is advised you stop using the bicycle or Fenderset immediately. Return the product to an authorised Bergamont dealer to have the front fender bracket replaced free of charge.
